Private Yoga: Your Personal Path to a Strong, Balanced, and Sustainable Practice

What Private Yoga Really Is

Private yoga is like having a personal coach for your body, mind, and breath. Instead of following a general sequence in a group class, we create each session entirely around you—your goals, your pace, and your unique needs.

Whether you want to build strength, improve flexibility, recover from an injury, deepen your understanding of yoga, or simply have a consistent practice that fits into your life, private yoga gives you the tools and guidance to get there. It’s your safe space to move, breathe, and grow without comparison or distraction—just focused, intentional practice designed for real transformation.

Why Private Yoga Can Be a Game-Changer

More and more people are turning to private yoga, and for good reason. We’re all juggling multiple responsibilities—work, family, social commitments, and the endless to-do list. In the middle of all that, finding time and focus for a yoga practice can feel like another task to add to the pile. And when something feels like “just another task,” it’s easy to push it aside and procrastinate.

Without guidance, it’s also common to feel lost—unsure of what to practice, how to progress, or how to adapt yoga to your specific needs. You might have started with enthusiasm but found yourself unmotivated when results didn’t come as quickly as you hoped. That’s where private yoga comes in—it removes the guesswork, keeps you accountable, and gives you real, noticeable progress.

Here’s how:

  • You get my full attention. Every pose, cue, and adjustment is personalised to your body—your flexibility, your strength, and your energy level that day. I give physical adjustments when necessary, not to make the pose effortless, but to make it more accessible and to help you understand the natural movement of your body. This builds trust between us and gives you the confidence to safely explore new poses.

  • It works around your schedule. No more rearranging your life to make a class time. We choose times that fit your life, so you’re more likely to stick to it.

  • We focus on your goals. Whether it’s mastering a handstand, improving your backbending, building a daily home practice, or feeling more comfortable in your own body, we create a plan that gets you there step-by-step.

  • It’s safe and supportive. If you’re working with an injury, tightness, or specific conditions, we adapt the practice so you can move forward without risk. I also work closely with students who want to align their practice with their menstrual cycle, adjusting intensity and focus according to each phase.

  • It goes beyond the physical. Breathwork, mindfulness, and practical tools for everyday life give you mental clarity and resilience to carry outside the yoga mat.

My Approach – Tradition Meets Modern Movement

I teach from the roots of yoga—Hatha and Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga—which are considered the mother styles and the foundation for most modern yoga practices today. What makes these systems remarkable is not only the poses themselves, but the way they are executed. There’s a clear methodology: poses are focused on alignment, held for several breaths to build stability and awareness, and often repeated in sets to activate the muscular and skeletal systems. This approach triggers the physiological benefits of the poses while creating a strong mind-body connection.

Yoga was never meant to be a workout — it’s a sustainable practice designed to transform both body and mind. When it’s approached only as exercise, without respect for alignment or breath, it can lead to unwanted results or even injuries in the long term. With the right guidance, however, yoga becomes a practice that supports you for life.

Alongside these foundational systems, I specialise in backbending through the dynamic hatha style of Prana Vashya Yoga and the circus movement art of contortion. This gives me a unique lens on mobility and spinal health, and allows me to help students explore safe, progressive flexibility work.

My teaching is also informed by working closely with students who want to align their practice with their menstrual cycle. By adapting the intensity and focus of the practice to each phase, we learn how to respect the body’s natural rhythms instead of pushing against them.

And finally, I believe in the power of hands-on adjustments. I use them not to make poses effortless, but to make them more accessible, and to give you cues on how to follow the body’s natural movement. Adjustments build trust and confidence between teacher and student, creating the support needed to explore your body safely and with curiosity.

My style blends the depth of traditional yoga with the adaptability of modern movement practices.

What that means for you:

  • A practice you can sustain. We adapt the workload and pace so yoga supports your life, rather than drains it.

  • Efficient progress. Small but meaningful adjustments give your body time to integrate new patterns. Progress is not just about reaching goals quickly—it’s about learning to embrace both the days when you feel strong and the days when your body needs a gentler approach.

  • Empowerment. You’ll leave each session with tools and awareness you can take into your own practice, making yoga something you own for yourself.

Building a Practice That Lasts

One of the biggest misconceptions about yoga, or fitness in general, is the idea of a quick fix. It’s easy to fall for promises of “3 simple steps to master a handstand” or “one secret stretch to unlock your splits.” And yes, sometimes a single tip or technique can make a big difference in a specific pose. You might finally drop into a front split with the right adjustment, or relieve back tension with a targeted breathwork exercise.

But the long-lasting results—the strength, the flexibility, the resilience, the calm mind—come only with consistency and dedication. Yoga is a timeless practice. As one of the greatest sages of yoga, Patanjali, wrote in the Yoga Sutras:

sa tu dīrghakālanairantaryasatkārāsevito dṛḍhabhūmiḥ
स तु दीर्घकालनैरन्तर्यसत्कारासेवितो दृढभूमिः

Practice becomes firmly established when it has been cultivated uninterruptedly and with devotion over a prolonged period of time.
— Yoga Sutra 1.14

That’s the heart of it: showing up again and again, even when progress feels slow or invisible. Every small step builds on the last, creating a foundation not just for your practice, but for a healthier, more balanced life.

Through our private sessions, I’ll help you find sustainable ways to integrate yoga into your daily routine—so it becomes a lifestyle, not a task on your to-do list. Together, we’ll build a practice that grows with you and continues to support you for years to come.

Support That Reaches Beyond the Mat

Our sessions don’t just focus on moving the body—they’re designed to connect breath, movement, and awareness in a way that supports you in everyday life.

We explore:

  • Pranayama – Based on the pranayama kriyas I studied with Guy Powiecki, a senior student of Sri O.P. Tiwari, these practices reminds you of how to influence the mind through the power of the breath, to regulate the nervous system.

  • Asana & Functional Movement – Rooted in the Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga system, integrating Tristhana (breath, bandhas, dristhi), alignment principles from the Primary and Second Series, and flexibility/strength drills to target specific areas.

  • Yoga Philosophy – Drawing from the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, we explore the nature of the mind and how our thoughts and behaviours shape our experience of life. I believe the way you relate to your body on the mat is a mirror for how you treat the world and those around you—the practice is a living metaphor.

Is Private Yoga for You?

Private yoga is the perfect way to get started as a total beginner or to deepen your practice as an experienced student. But it’s not for everyone. Yoga attracts people who are ready to see real change and who are willing to make a promise to themselves—to commit, to show up, and to work through both the challenges and the victories.

It’s about choosing yourself.

Private yoga is only one decision away from you. Are you ready to start practicing with me?
